The old eight palms taught by Liang Zhenfu, an apprentice of gossip founder Dong Haichuan, is one of the basic methods of getting started. It includes: single palm change, cover palm, back palm, homeopathic palm, cloaked palm, stepped palm, rubbed palm, flattening through the eight basic palms. Because the Bagua Palm is changing its moves in continuous movements, and its movements are more complicated, beginners should start with the most basic palm to gradually familiarize themselves with the technical essentials and style characteristics of the Bagua Palm. The old eight palms are mainly for practicing basic techniques, body, leg and basic strength, which is suitable for beginners to practice. Practice the old eight palms can not be eager to achieve success, you must follow three steps to make progress in order to do more with less. The so-called three-step technique is to first pay attention to the standard of body shape, the change of technique and the change of footwork, correct the posture, relax the whole body, and do not rush to force and attack. The second step is to make the movements calm, vigorous, long and heavy. Jin should slowly look in, so that Jin is not exposed. The third step is to achieve the same potential, coordinate the whole body, keep the strength steady and coherent, and connect the spirit, energy, consciousness, and strength in one go, so that all four forms are prepared: it looks like a dragon, looks like a monkey, and it looks like a tiger. Alas, turning like an eagle plate.

Explanation of the basic footwork of Lao Ba Zhang:

Mud step: It is a footwork that walks around the circle. Take a knee-squat squat position. When walking in the circle, the inner feet are straight (the toes near the center of the circle are facing forward), the outer feet are buckled (the toes of the outer feet are inclined to the inside of the circle). If you walk down the mud, your steps are shaped like scissors.

Pacing: footwork for turning around. One leg is supported, the other thigh is rotated outwards, and the toes are skimmed. Liaobu is divided into a small 掰 and a big 掰. The outskirt foot and the supporting foot form a T-shaped small step (figure ①), the outskirt foot and the supporting foot form a zigzag (figure ②) or the two feet are parallel (figure ③) as a large limp.

Step: A footwork for turning around. One leg is supported, the other leg is turned inward, and the foot is buckled inward. There are also small and large buckles. The inner buckle foot and the supporting foot form a T-shaped small step (Figure ④), the inner buckle foot and the supporting foot form a Z-shaped (Figure ⑤) or two: feet parallel (Figure ⑥) are large buckle steps. 越大 The larger the step, the greater the angle of rotation of the body.
